What the research actually says about red light and hair.

These studies are about low-level light therapy as a technology. They are not studies of the Capilux cap. No independent trial has been run on our specific device, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

What the research supports is the method: red light in roughly the 630–660 nm range, applied to the scalp, on a consistent daily schedule. Capilux is built to deliver that. The studies

Listed with the study design and the number of participants, because those two things determine how much weight a result deserves. Randomised, sham-controlled and double-blind is the strongest design available for a device like this.

The growth of human scalp hair mediated by visible red light laser and LED sources in males

Randomised, double-blind, sham-controlled 44 men with androgenetic alopecia

Scalp treatment at 655 nm produced a 35% increase in hair growth compared with the sham device (p = 0.003).

Efficacy and safety of a low-level laser device in the treatment of male and female pattern hair loss

Multicentre, randomised, sham device-controlled, double-blind 269 subjects (128 men, 141 women)

After 26 weeks of treatment, terminal hair density increased significantly more in the treated group than in the sham group. Only minor side effects were reported.
